Why Hereby
People pick where to go from what they read online, and that's getting harder to trust. Fake reviews have never been easier to write. Google says it blocked or removed over 292 million policy-violating reviews on Maps in 2025. In 2019, Google removed more than 75 million policy-violating reviews (Google, February 2020). In one 2025 study, people told real reviews from AI-written fakes only about half the time.
That's hard on a small local business. An unfair review can sit there for days before you know about it, and Google doesn't have to remove it, even if it's wrong. When a landlord, a lender or a tourism board asks you to prove you're busy, "trust us" is all you have.
Hereby puts a small stand on the counter. Customers tap it, and the business keeps the record of tapped visits.
According to Restaurants Canada (November 2025), 44% of Canadian restaurants are at a loss or breaking even. Anything we sell has to cost less than one bad week, so the planned price is $39 a month with no lock-in.
The founder
Benoît Georgelin, founder. Benoît has spent more than 18 years building and running software: product development, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, site reliability and security operations, and blockchain systems. He has worked in startups before, and he went through the Centech accelerator cohort in Montréal in 2025 with an earlier project. He moved to Penticton in July 2026 and started Hereby there, because fake and AI-written reviews have become a worldwide problem with real costs for the owners of small businesses.
How we build
Hereby is built by its founder with AI agents. The founder decides everything that matters: prices, what we say publicly, privacy and spending. The tools draft and check; a person approves.
What Hereby is, and isn't
Hereby records real visits. It isn't a review site, a rewards or coupon app, or a data broker, and we don't sell lists of people.
Our promises Pilot · from go-live
We promise that:
- A business never learns who a visitor is unless the visitor tells them.
- Nothing is collected from people who didn't tap. There's no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi scanning and no background tracking.
- Everyone who taps gets the same choice, the same way. We don't filter who sees the Google link.
- Nobody gets a reward for a review.
- Tap events are deleted after 90 days.
